The distaff equivalent of the Derby, the Kentucky Oaks is always held the day before the big boy's race.
The girls have been racing in this race the same amount of years as the Derby. Both started in 1875 and are the oldest continuously contested sporting event in history. Rock on.

This year, the horse to beat is Rachel Alexandra. (above)
But I also like Gabby's Golden Gal.
Both of these horses are sired by Medaglia d'Oro, a fantastic horse from a few years ago.
*Moving from the Oaks to the Derby, I'm having a really tough time deciding just who I want to bet on for the big race.
My number one fave is I Want Revenge.
But also on my short list:
Chocolate Candy
Friesan Fire
Pioneerof The Nile
General Quarters
Dunkirk
I have a little twinge of maybe about Papa Clem and Advice, as well. Guess we'll see...
But if I were to choose a solid pick.... it'd be I Want Revenge (below)

Gosh I hope one of my picks wins...
